Equal Opportunities and CUG
The promotion of wellbeing and equal opportunities at SISSA is managed by the CUG (Comitato Unico di Garanzia).
What is the CUG?
CUG is the acronym of “Comitato Unico di Garanzia”, the unified committee for equal opportunities, the promotion of staff wellbeing and the fight against discrimination.
The CUG has propositional, consultative and verification tasks. It contributes to improving the productivity of public work by promoting a working environment based on equal opportunities and organisational wellbeing, and by countering every form of discrimination and of moral or psychological violence against workers.
Who is in the CUG?
The committee can be contacted through its institutional address cug@sissa.it, through its coordinator Domenica Bueti, or through any of its members.
Regular members:
- Beatrice Pastore (trade union representative, SISSA staff)
- Audrey Franceschi Biagioni (SISSA postdoc)
- Salvatore Di Marco (SISSA PhD student)
- Domenica Bueti (SISSA faculty, president)
Substitute members:
- Sebastian Goldt (SISSA Assistant Professor)
- Valeria Mirabella (trade union representative, SISSA staff)
SISSA has set up an articulated network to intercept possible discomfort. The appropriate channel depends on the nature of the problem and is described in Listening and Psychological Support:
- Confidential Counsellor: free advice and assistance in cases of discrimination, harassment, violation of dignity or bullying
- Psychological counselling for all personnel: support for personal and professional problems
- Ombudspersons: independent, neutral and confidential support for students and postdocs in conflicts within research groups or with supervisors
PRO-BEN promotes psychological wellbeing, prevents emotional distress and fosters a healthy academic environment. At SISSA it is coordinated by the CUG. Find out more in Training and Organisational Wellbeing (PRO BEN).
SISSA’s Gender Equality Plan (GEP) is a policy document that defines the School’s strategy to detect gender bias, introduce innovative actions to correct it and reduce gender asymmetries. To that end, it identifies the School’s objectives and the progress monitoring processes, using specific indicators.
