Open day is a full-immersion science event for schools and the general public. SISSA’s Open Day is held once a year, usually in May, and offers students, teachers, and the wider community a unique opportunity to explore the world of advanced scientific research. The event includes guided tours of laboratories, interactive experiments, public lectures, exhibitions, and science-themed performances—designed to engage visitors of all ages.
The most recent edition took place on 17 May 2024 at SISSA’s Trieste campus. Participation is free and open to everyone, and while most activities require no booking, some guided tours may have limited availability and require online registration in advance.

SISSA Student Day is An immersive event to explore science through direct dialogue with researchers. SISSA Student Day is an annual event dedicated to high school students, typically targeting the final two years. Participants take part in a rich morning program featuring seminars, interactive workshops, and presentations covering topics such as physics, neuroscience, mathematics, data science, and science communication.
Activities are designed and delivered by SISSA researchers and staff, offering students a first-hand experience of scientific research and its real-world impact. The event includes multiple parallel sessions to allow students to explore different disciplines and ask questions directly to scientists.
Participation is free but subject to registration. Schools can sign up their classes via an online form published in advance on SISSA’s website and communication channels.
